Airport Magdeburg /Cochstedt launches new Ryanair flight

From summer 2012, three flights will depart every week to Palma de Mallorca

Hecklingen, 13th December 2011: After the confirmation of the Ryanair connection to Girona/Barcelona a few days ago, more good news are on the way. For the 2012 summer timetable, Ryanair has announced Palma de Mallorca as its new destination departing from Airport Magdeburg/Cochstedt International. After the maiden flight on 27th March 2012, three Ryanair aircraft will take off each week – Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays towards Germany’s most popular holiday island, the second sun destination announced by Ryanair for Magdeburg/Cochstedt’s summer flight schedule. After the success in 2011, Girona will again be a destination from 28th March 2012 with departures every Wednesday and Saturday.

“Holidaymakers from Saxony-Anhalt and the entire region of Mid-Germany get to the Mediterranean island quickly and inexpensively. The island is an attractive holiday destination, not just for party fans. Wide parts of the island consist of natural beauty untouched by mass tourism, tempting with wide plains, panoramic mountain ranges and picturesque villages in addition to the seaside“ delighted Airport General Manager Uwe Hädicke reports. “Ryanair kept their promises and added another fabulous holiday destination to our timetable.”

Henrike Schmidt, Sales & Marketing Manager with Ryanair, is thrilled with the new destination, too: “Connecting Magdeburg/Cochstedt with Palma, we not only created an attractive destination for Saxony-Anhalt’s only commercial airport but also added a new destination for our new Palma base. We will have four aircraft stationed in Palma, offering 47 direct flights to European destinations. Without a doubt, this puts Ryanair into a key position of the Balearic island’s flight traffic.   Supporting tourist traffic onto Mallorca, Ryanair is partly responsible for sustaining more than 2,800 jobs in the region.”

The Airport Magdeburg /Cochstedt now boasts the Ryanair destinations alongside departures to Munich, Hurghada (Egypt), Las Palmas (Gran Canaria), Budapest (Hungary) as well as Istanbul and Antalya (Turkey). Ryanair flights are available now from €29.99* to Giron/Barcelona and to Ryanair’s 49th base in Palma de Mallorca from €40.99* at www.ryanair.de.
